The Worship Team Is In Need of VOLUNTEERS!
Friday, February 3, 2012
The Worship Team Is In Need of volunteers!

Most of us think of the worship team as the people who lead music on Sunday mornings, but there is much more to our duties here at LOL than that. The Worship team is in charge of other things, such as Communion set up, Ushers, Greeters, Readers, Sound and Media Shout.

We are particularly in need of sound board operators for early service. Training will be provided.

If you are not on a Ministry team, and would like to be more involved in the church family please evaluate your spiritual gifts and consider joining one. We'd love to have you

Something to Think About
Friday, February 3, 2012
It is strange that we have picked February to be the month of love—you know, Valentine's Day! It has to be one of the coldest and sometimes dreariest months, especially for those of us in the northern Midwest when winter seems to just hang on. Maybe, that is why they picked it for mid-February—to brighten up those yucky days with love.

That is how love was meant to be when God created it between us humans. He said in Genesis 2, "It is not good for a person to be alone." God created us for community–to fill in with mutual love what no other thing in the life can. On a spiritual and eternal level He demonstrated that love, "that while we were still sinners and enemies, he loved us by sending Christ to die for us." (Rom. 5: 8,10)

And that really gets to the heart of love. It is not something that was intended to only be warm and fuzzy when you really like the other. It was meant to be sacrificial—not about how you feel but how you love the other even when it seems impossible and they seem unlovable at that moment. That is why Jesus tells us to "love our enemies" (Mat 5) and to love "the lost sheep/prodigal son" (Luke 15) and to love the open sinner (Luke 7 and John 8).

What does that mean for your loving. First of all, in the Christian home you love you spouse and your children/parent not because they deserve it but because they need it. You "love because you have been first loved" (1 John 4: 19)

Secondly, you love your fellow coworker, unreasonable boss, the guy who just cut you off on I-465, and the unknown person next to you in the store because you become the living presence of Christ to your world and community. In a loveless, unlovable, love-starved world, you become the flowing well of Christ's love to them (John 7: 37-39) Maybe, you are the only person who is going to show love to that person today. And because you do, they get to experience Jesus.

So love-away—don't just do it this month or just on February 14th. Make up your mind to be loving each and every morning you get out of bed. You know that you are able to do that because the resourcing of your unconditional and sacrificial love doesn't have to come from drawing down inside of you to get there. It comes from the One, Jesus Christ, who lives within you to make all things possible (Phil 4:13).

. . . . Now that's something to think about!
